Sutter Health determined in the late 1990s that it was necessary to reconfigure its entire central San Francisco inpatient delivery footprint in response to the changing nature of healthcare delivery. A 13-year entitlement process led to the construction of its 274-bed hospital and the selection of PMB to develop a companion medical office building.
The result of the Sutter-PMB collaboration was the successful completion of the MOB entitlement process, the negotiation and management of an extremely complex construction process, and the on-schedule opening of the MOB in March 2019. PMB delivered a rental rate commitment to Sutter over four years before project completion that allowed it to lock-in the Hospital’s long-term rental rate commitment years in advance. The new campus will dominate healthcare delivery in the greater central San Francisco market.
