Executive Chairman, Founder

Robert A. Rosenthal, Bob, founded PMB in 1988 as a buyout of American Medical Building’s west coast office and pioneered the ground-leased, on-campus MOB funded with 3rd-party capital. This new approach allowed hospitals and health systems to preserve their precious capital while growing their medical staffs and maintaining control over their campuses. Bob served as President of PMB until 2007 and had a remarkable 48 year career designing and developing healthcare facilities. Bob set the foundation for PMB’s client-focused culture and long-term investment approach.

PMB’s exceptional reputation is a reflection of Bob’s hard work and character.  Bob also founded, grew, and ran PMB’s best-in-class property management company, PMB Real Estate Services.

Prior to founding PMB, Bob practiced architecture in both Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin where he specialized in the design of healthcare facilities. In 1967, he relocated to California, where he headed a healthcare architectural firm. Later, Bob became Regional Vice President of American Medical Buildings (AMB). Bob received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Illinois and is licensed to practice architecture in seven states.
